Outline of Special Selection for Foreign Students (English-based Course)
S.I.T offers courses in more than 80 subjects in English at the Graduate School of Engineering and Science. International students who want to pursue a Master’s degree only in English are considered eligible for graduation when they fulfill the requirements for the completion of the program.To be admitted to S.I.T Graduate School of Engineering and Science, international students who satisfy the admission eligibility requirements (see table below) are required to (1) take an essay exam and (2) pass an interview.
Eligibility to Apply
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements both 1 and 2, plus A, B, C, D or E. | |
1 | Possess neither Japanese nationality (including those with dual nationality) nor permanent residence in Japan |
2 | Have sufficient proficiency to study and conduct research in English |
A | Foreign students who have graduated or will graduate from a Japanese university day (see the guideline). |
B | Students who have finished or will finish 16 years of school education or equivalent outside Japan by assigned day (see the guideline) |
C | Those who have been awarded a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree at a foreign university or other institution, by completing a course of study of three years or more (five years for a doctoral program in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine) |
D* | Foreign student from a country where one does not have to take 16 years to finish undergraduate education, having a working experience in a university or a research institutions in Japan or outside Japan after graduation of university by assigned day (see the guideline) and being recognized in Academic Committee of Graduate School of Engineering and Science, SIT as having the same academic capability as a SIT university degree holder. |
E* | A person who has finished or will finish 15 years of school education or equivalent outside Japan, who is also recognized in Academic Committee of Graduate School of Engineering and Science, SIT as a university degree holder with excellent grades for prescribed credits. |
F* | A person who is recognized in Academic Committee of Graduate School of Engineering and Science, SIT as having the same academic capability as a university degree holder. |
