Q1: How can I find my preferred supervisor?

A1: Visit these pages below and find your preferred supervisor. Then refer to the List of Academic Staff and check if he/she is able to supervise you.

ELIGIBILITY

Q1: I do not have a good command of Japanese. Can I still apply for Master’s/Doctor’s Program in SIT?

A1: As SIT offers courses in more than 200 subjects in English at the Graduate School of Engineering and Science, knowledge of Japanese is not requirement.

Q2: Do I fulfill the eligibility to take examination?

A2: It depends on the type of examination. Check the type of examination and each exam information.



TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS etc.

Q1: Do all the applicants need to submit TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS Score repor?

A1: Scores of TOEIC® L & R, TOEIC® S & W, TOEFL® iBT, IELTS Academic, GTEC (4 Skills for Professionals / Students) are desirable. 
Or the submission of the Document certifies that have obtained a degree from a higher education institution by taking classes and receiving research guidance etc. in English shall be substituted for the English Test Score Report. (Documents indicating the Medium of instruction, etc.)
 

Q2: Is there an expiration date of the official scores?

A2: Only scores that were taken two years or more before the application deadline and able to submit the scores to the online application system (TAO) by the application
deadline.
Ex.) If the application deadline is June 30, 2024
English test scores taken on or after July 1, 2022 

APPLICATION

Q1: Where can I get the application materials?

A1: Please refer to the Application Guideline page.

Q4: How can I pay the examination fee?

A4: The payment method is by convenience store payment or credit card payment; hence payment by other means cannot be accepted. 
The applicant (payer) is responsible for any remittance fees (please confirm the amount of remittance fees for convenience store payment or credit card payment when you pay the application fee on TAO).

EXAMINATION

Q1: Is there an on-campus examination or interview?

A1: Conducted online using Zoom, the web conference service.

Q2: What kind of examination do I need to take?

A2: It depends on the type of examination . Check the type of examination and each exam information.

COSTS & SCHOLARSHIP

Q1: How much do I need to pay for tuition and fees?

A1: Please refer to the "Tuition" page below.

Q2: Can I receive any scholarship?

A2: There are scholarship only for Doctor's program applicants. 
*There is a selection process and not all students are selected as scholarship recipients.

Q3: Do I have any opportunity to receive scholarship after enrollment?

A3: Some foundations outside of SIT or companies offer scholarship through SIT. If you satisfy their requirements, you can apply for them.
After the enrollment, please check the information in the announcement for SIT current students and apply for the scholarship by yourself.

COURSES

Q1: How can I see the list of courses and the syllabi?

A1: Please refer to the website (http://syllabus.sic.shibaura-it.ac.jp/index.html.en).
Not all the courses are conducted in English unfortunately.
Check the “Language” column in each syllabus.
