Have you heard the phrase Global Open Innovation? It is a new concept to collaboratively create brand-new values through combining various ideas both inside and outside a group or organization. This concept has become indispensable in fields that develop new things and mechanisms. Global communication skills are therefore required to collaborate with other researchers and companies. Society ardently desires global engineers and scientists who have acquired not only English skills but also the ability to engage in discussions beyond their own major and adapt to different cultures.

A new challenge to nurture global engineers and scientists in the College of Systems Engineering and Science


The College of Systems Engineering and Science was started in 1991 as a new-generation cross-disciplinary engineering school to tackle complicated problems related to various components in our social lives. The first three Global Programs were launched in 2017, and the other three in 2019. Through the leading-edge international curricula of the Global Program, students will learn their major subjects in English, study abroad at foreign partner universities, and also carry on their final-year research in English.

Continue to study in the Global Program of Engineering and Science (master’s level) or work as global engineers and scientists!

POINT 1 1セメスター以上の留学が必須 - Study abroad at least for one semester -

Students in the Global Program must study abroad at SIT’s partner universities and obtain more than specified number of credits in English.

POINT 2 専門科目を英語で学修 - Take specialized courses taught in English -

Students in the Global Program must obtain more than one-quarter of total credits required for graduation from the specialized subjects taught in English.

POINT 3 英語による総合研究(卒業研究)を実施 - Work on Undergraduate Thesis Research I/II in English -

Students in the Global Program must write their research thesis and make presentations in English. They could continue their research at SIT’s partner universities if conditions permit.

The Global Program will offer sufficient education and training to prepare for study abroad at SIT’s partner universities.

Stay for a few weeks and study at foreign partner universities with SIT professors to acquire experience studying abroad and interacting with different cultures.
Buddy科目 - Buddy program -
Support foreign students in SIT and their school life, and share the experience before going abroad.

Take English conversation program on campus in your spare time.
理工系英語プレゼンテーション - Presentation skills in science and technology -
Acquire competence in English presentation using technical terms through practical approaches.
国際PBL - Global PBL -
Learn and cultivate teamwork and leadership by tack ling various problems with local students who have a dierent background at foreign partner universities.
国際インターンシップ - Overseas Internship -
Work at foreign companies and universities for more than two weeks, and learning to adapt yourself both professionally and personally.

Acquire adaptable skills to participate actively in global society!


In the College of Systems Engineering and Science, students are expected to learn not only basic and specialized knowledge for engineering and science but, more broadly, the entire systems engineering approach: systems thinking, systems engineering techniques, and systems management, giving them the skills to succeed on the global stage. In addition, students enrolled in the Global Program are required to study abroad at SIT’s partner universities, obtain credit for specialized subjects in English, and also improve their communication skills.

入学者選抜について - Student selection -


Students shall attend the orientation of the Global Program after they join SIT. Those who satisfy the specific requirements can apply for admission to the Global Program and will be enrolled after the selection process. The number of successful applicants is approximately ten percent in each department or program.

学費・奨学金 -Tuition and scholarship for studying abroad -


No additional tuition is required for studying at most partner universities. Students only pay travel and living expenses, etc. Scholarships and grants are available and will be provided depending on the academic achievement.

国際学生寮について -SIT Global Dormitory on the Omiya Campus-

大宮キャンパス内にある国際学生寮に最大 2 年間入寮可能です(入居時選考あり)。約半数を占める10カ国以上の留学生との共同生活を通じて、国際感覚と人間力の育成を目指す学生寮です。交流イベントも多数開催されます。

Students can live in the SIT Global Dormitory for up to two years after admission. This dormitory provides a community life and social events for foreign students, and students will have opportunities to learn communication skills and develop a global mindset.
