The program is mainly divided into three activities, which are AgPBL, Tutorials, and Observation tour of research laboratories. AgPBL stands for "Advanced" Global PBL. AgPBL is a teaching method in which students create ideas to solve a given problem and evaluate the ideas in a group discussion manner. AgPBL includes two additional activities. Firstly, problems to be solved are not provided in advance, hence, students will find the problems existing in a specific topic. Secondly, the students will actually develop a system based on their ideas to show the feasibility. Through the two additional activities, the students will learn how to clarify research issues and acquire practical skills. These abilities are indispensable in engineering research. That is why this is called "Advanced". In this program, four tutorials with different topics and an observation tour in which participants visit two research laboratories are prepared in order to acquire general knowledge about the topics. Bangkok, Thailand's capital, is famous as one of the world's leading megaregions, but the gap between Bangkok and local communities is only getting bigger. Politics, culture, and capital are all concentrated in Bangkok, and the local community is so weak that it has become normal for a long time. This workshop will attempt to revitalize such a small community near Bangkok using design. We aim to revitalize society by clarifying the problems that society faces by creating new architectural design methods using local culture and wisdom. Program cancelled due to COVID-19

Laos, located on mainland Southeast Asia, is a multi-ethnic country with a nominal population of more than 50 ethnic groups, and until the 1980s it had shut down the country due to civil war and socialization. Recent reforms and opening-up on the economy have brought great benefits to the nation, such as the development of national land and infrastructure, but on the other hand, urbanization has progressed and cultural diversity has greatly fluctuated. In addition to knowing the traditional culture of Laos, this workshop aims to promote the sustainable use of traditional houses in the local community by renovating traditional houses. In this gPBL, students are going to visit to learn the latest seismic engineering in Christchurch, New Zealand with the University of Canterbury and the University of Auckland. Christchurch had experienced huge damage by means of the Christchurch earthquake in 2011. Indeed, several historical masonry buildings were collapsed. Although Christchurch has been struggling to recover from the damages of the Christchurch earthquake disaster, some new seismic technologies have applied practiced in Christchurch. Students can understand the Christchurch earthquake and the recovery planning and latest seismic technologies by representative chartered engineers, Professors, and students in New Zealand. Before visiting NZ, students have to learn Christchurch earthquake and the latest seismic technologies in Japan to discuss the different points with each country. Finally, attendance has to give an English presentation in New Zealand. I expect attendances to create an opportunity to know international engineering sense for their future activities. The workshop students will be divided into mixed groups - with students from Sydney University and SIT, working together. The goal is for each group of students to understand the social and physical context of an area -Fukagawa in 2019 and Kanda in 2020 and understand how to create a designed response that emerges from and enriches that culture. The students will learn how to identify the ‘hidden context’ in the small, complex area in which many different un-connected activities take place.  This project raises the question of how to respond to the context. The research done in this workshop will investigate the underlying histories and patterns of use and show how these complex areas are in fact clusters of coherent architecture. The project will bring together students and teachers from many different countries - many of the Sydney-based students were born in other parts of Asia, and the teachers will be from Japan, Australia, and Britain. Therefore, a uniquely broad range of different perspectives, and experiences, will under-lay the study. Program cancelled due to COVID-19

In this gPBL, you learn "to think using models" in designing, which is one of the most important keys in the development of products and systems. At first, you learn the basics of various modeling techniques such as UML, and then consider and evaluate what you want to make, what should be made, and what kind of structure realize what you designed. The ability of modelling from various viewpoints is very useful not only for software development but also for designing in many fields.
