Both in Italy and Japan, we’ve succeeded to develop manufacturing industry and agriculture; for example, design and/or manufacturing of automobiles, electrical devices, agriculture and local traditional foods in some areas. However, some important skills, knowledge and know-how haven’t well transferred for aging, different cultural background or a lack of successors, and then these were lost in some cases. Hence how to transfer these skills well is an important problem in the human resource development considering Industry 4.0 or SDGs, and we have been trying to find the solution. Your mission is to develop an innovative support system for skill transfer in the industrial fields with teamworking by Italian and Japanese students. In your proposal, a newly proposed idea is evaluated in various aspects quantitatively. 1679899282319

Thai students, who participated in the previous Dispatch gPBL program held in KMUTT, come to our campus. Japanese students and Thai students try to design and build the measurement system using a embedded computer. The students give a presentation the results they have discussed and debeted in English.

Activity results will be evaluated based on two presentations, midterm and final, and indivisual activities are recorded by using slack and wiki. The acceptance type PBL is positioned as an advance of the previous dispatch type PBL. Students can use sensors, actuators and other options that are not included in the provided exercise set, we will schedule shopping them in Akihabara.

This year (2023), we will respond to the situation where we have to switch online depending on the situation of COVID-19. Taking advantage that there is a distance between Japan and Thailand, we will design hardwares that can be "remotely controlled" or "remotely measured", and make and evaluate student's remote-control programs.

In the first half of the workshop, participants acquire foundational knowledge related to AI model training and the implementation of trained models through lectures given by SIT faculty. Subsequently, participants compile a list of components necessary for implementing AI models and go on a field trip to Akihabara to purchase these components. A visit to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) is also planned for the same day. In the second half of the workshop, participants use the components they have procured to engage in hands-on training and implementation of AI models on hardware platforms.

Providing electricity is quite important to sustain modern society. In order to realize high quality electricity reliability, sophisticated generator control is required so that stable frequency and voltage are maintained. This PBL provides opportunity to understand how to control generator with learning control theory. In beginning, students at each university learn control theory using a kit. After understanding the control theory, students try to design generator controller to maintain good power quality. The experiment is performed at SIT so the deep discussion and role assignment is necessary. 1679899282319

The ancient capital of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand is a royal capital with a long history, and has a fertile ecological environment that supported the royal power. In recent years, Chiang Mai's cultural landscape, including traditional architectures, has been disappearing due to rapid tourism development and ecosystem destruction. In this workshop, design surveys will be conducted in Chiang Mai and its suburbs to clarify changes in such landscapes, and while carrying out specific architectural design builds and landscapes, we will promote the regeneration of local architecture and landscapes and the revitalization of local communities. Next year, we are planning to hold a workshop in Chiang Dao area.

Addis Ababa is one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa, and in recent years there have been many large-scale development and skyscraper construction projects underway in the city. On the other hand, the city is facing a crisis in which buildings and communities built over time are being wiped out. There is an urgent need to conduct surveys to document architectural heritage and take measures for its preservation. In this workshop, together with faculty and students from EiABC, Addis Ababa University, we will explore the reality of the historical neighborhoods by conducting architectural surveys and interviews with residents. 1679899282319

The aim of the project is to design a new international dormitory for SIT in Tukishima District. How could we utilize the old residential district of Tsukishima to build a mid-rise building with new programs? Tsukishima is an island in the Tokyo Bay area next to Toyosu where Shibaura Institute of Technology is located. The low-rise wooden residential districts with narrow alley ways were formed about one hundred years ago after reclamation. Today, the area has been transformed from low-rise wooden apartment building area to high-rise redevelopment area due to the convenient central location.
