How do I find a supervisor and join his/her lab if I am on the sandwich program?

You can change your status to a research student if you have the basic knowledge and research skills and want to do some work with our professor (students must be higher than Bachelor 3rd year).
In this case, you will need to find a suitable professor to host you in a lab and there will also be an internal screening.

To participate in SIT laboratory, you need to go through several steps.

1. Look for a professor who can accept you in his/her lab.
You can either ask the professors about the courses you are taking or look for
Designated Research Project / SIT Laboratory List
where you can look for our professors' current research theme and laboratory information.
You can contact the professors through the international office (global-admission@ow.shibaura-it.ac.jp).

* In either case, please prepare your CV and objective setting sheet before you ask professors about accepting you.

Objective Setting Sheet.xlsx.
You can check the instructions and template/sample from here.
* Most of our professors are very busy, so please ask nicely.

2. Get approval from your home university.
Since you are participating in the exchange program, firstly, we need your coordinator's confirmation. Please check the detail of the Research Exchange Program before you contact your home university.
3. Send your CV and Objective setting sheet to the international office
If the professor accepts you, please ask the professor and your home university to sign the objective setting sheet and send your CV and sheet to the international office.
4. Wait for the result.
Based on the objective setting sheet you give us, we will discuss accepting you into our professor’s lab.
After the discussion, we will inform you of the result and your program start date. It takes about a month to get a result.
