Polymer Structural Chemistry Laboratory

Accurate measurement of nanoscale structure

We are surrounded by a wide variety of materials that have their own physical properties, and the goal of materials science is to control the physical properties at will. Then, what information is necessary to control physical properties? One of them is the structure of atoms and molecules that make up materials. It is known that the structure of atoms and molecules at the nanometer scale has a great influence on the physical properties of materials. Our laboratory aims to contribute to society through the development of apparatuses that can accurately measure such nanoscale structures.

FOR SOCIETY

Our particular focus is on polymer materials, which are used in biocompatible and bioadaptive materials for the realization of a healthy and longevity society. We aim to conduct a structural analysis that will provide guidelines for the development of such materials.

RESEARCH THEMES

  • Development of high-precision dynamic light scattering system for the measurement of fluctuation
  • Structural analysis of soft materials using neutron scattering
  • Elucidation of molecular dynamics through development of novel molecular spectroscopy
