Product Ergonomics Design Laboratory

Product design with human sciences. To clarify human characteristics that connect user experiences and products.

All industrial products are produced for human use (purposes). In other words, human characteristics are indispensable in the process of manufacturing goods. In our laboratory, we employ various measurement techniques to clarify the human characteristics necessary for safe, comfortable, and reassuring product manufacturing. Our focus is on studying methods for designing products with higher affinity to users.

  • 産業と技術革新の基盤をつくろう
  • すべての人に健康と福祉を
  • つくる責任つかう責任

STUDY FIELDS

  • Ergonomics
  • Biomechanics
  • Design Science
  • Kansei engineering
  • Automotive engineering

FOR SOCIETY

We use various methodologies to measure and understand human characteristics (why and how they feel a certain way). By creating knowledge essential for product manufacturing (how to design appropriately), we contribute to designing products with higher user affinity.

RESEARCH THEMES

  • Human body sensitivity measurements and design application (Seating comfort, Information HMI)
  • Clarifications of evaluation structures for seating comfort and design knowledge construction by quantification.
  • Measurements of human physiological and cognitive status and modeling of human status.
  • Validations of physical fatigue reduction and arowsal keeping using body support of automotive seat.
