Laboratory of Polymer Materials Chemistry

Welcome to the fascinating and profound world of macromolecules

Macromolecules are giant molecules composed of tens of thousands of connected atoms, which possess unique characteristics that cannot be found in small molecules. They are used in a wide variety of fields, from daily life to cutting-edge technologies. Our laboratory researchs highly functional and high-performance macromolecules composed only of carbon and hydrogen, which have excellent environmental adaptability. We put special effort into magical powders called transition metal catalysts, incorporating them into the synthesis and property analysis of soft materials such as gels and liquid crystals.

FOR SOCIETY

Macromolecule materials are used everywhere, all around us. They are indispensable part of our lives, such as in the cloth, thread, and synthetic leather used in clothing; the utensils, containers, and packaging materials used in the food sector; and the paint, insulation, and bathtubs used in housing.

RESEARCH THEMES

  • High functionality of organic-inorganic hybrid gels
  • Crystal structure and crystallization behavior analysis of polyolefin
  • Development of light-emitting polymers for organic electroluminescent (EL) diodes
