Event Report on Polish–Japanese Symposium on Hydrogen Energy Technologies and Advanced Energy Systems

The Polish–Japanese Symposium on Hydrogen Energy Technologies and Advanced Energy Systems, hosted by AGH University of Krakow, was held over three days from Wednesday, July 2 to Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Toyosu Campus of Shibaura Institute of Technology.

The symposium, organized by AGH University of Krakow—a partner institution of Shibaura Institute of Technology—aimed to promote research collaboration between Japan and Poland. Approximately 80 participants, including university faculty members and staffs as well as doctoral and master's course students, took part in the event.

During the opening ceremony, opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Paweł Milewski, Polish Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Wojciech Karczewski, Director Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange(NAWA), Ms. Marta Zielinska, Deputy Commissioner General of Poland, the World Expo 2025, Mr. Miroslaw Marczewski, Director General of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme, and Prof. Dr. Janusz Szmyd, Rector’s Proxy for Cooperation with Japan, AGH University of Krakow. From Shibaura Institute of Technology, President Jun Yamada and Distinguished Visiting Professor Akio Miyajima (former Ambassador of Japan to Poland) also addressed the audience, expressing expectations for strengthened bilateral collaboration and future advancements in next-generation energy.

 

The symposium featured a wide range of presentations on topics such as hydrogen production technologies, solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), and the application of AI technologies. Lively discussions and exchanges of ideas took place among participants, providing a valuable opportunity to foster potential future joint research projects.

At the closing ceremony, outstanding student presentations were recognized with awards.

Shibaura Institute of Technology will continue to strengthen cooperation between Japan and Poland and contribute to addressing global challenges through international collaboration.
