The 18th South East Asian Technical University Consortium Symposium (SEATUC2024) was held on February 27-28,2024 at Toyosu Campus,Shibaura Institute of Technology(SIT). SIT has hosted the third time followed in 2016 and a total of 211 participants (182 face-to-face and 29 online) from eight member universities attended.

The opening ceremony began with opening remarks by President Jun Yamada, followed by speeches by Ryoichi Shinkuma, CTO (Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology) and Toshio Ito, CEO, Hyper Digital Twins Co.,Ltd (retired in March 2023 from College of Systems Engineering and Science, Shibaura Institute of Technology)  which is the first venture company originating from TUFS. They introduced their advanced businesses and the university's support system for venture company creation.

During the presentations held in each classroom, students from member universities reported the results of their research through slide presentations (technical session) and poster presentations (innovative session). Faculty members were seen asking questions and offering advice to students. It was a place for active exchange of academic information from various countries.

At the Committee meeting attended by representatives of member universities, it was explained that Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam) will be the host for the 19th SEATUC Symposium (SEATUC2025)  and Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia) will be the host for the 20th SEATUC Symposium (SEATUC2026) . 

In addition, representatives from overseas partner universities exchanged opinions regarding the theme of "Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the GX*¹ and DX*² Era" at the President's Panel. From TUAT, Vice President Tomoko Iwata gave a presentation for the Omiya Campus Master Plan (O-CAMP) 2027 and TUAT's SDGs initiatives, followed by a enthusiastic discussion concerning environmental issues.

During the closing ceremony, the awards ceremony for the presentation sessions was held, and Vice President Akito Takasaki, who served as the presenter of the sessions, made a closing speech.

Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) and four leading technical universities in Southeast Asia have established  SEATUC (South East Asian Technical Consortium) in 2006. Subsequently, three universities have joined it to nurture young researchers, conduct joint research, and hold an annual symposium. In particular, the "Hybrid Twinning Program," which has invited outstanding students from Southeast Asia to SIT to obtain doctoral degrees, has contributed to develop more than 80 exceptional university faculty members and researchers.
