High Voltage and Power Apparatus Laboratory
Conducting research on technologies in order to analyze storage batteries and high-voltage equipment needed to generate, transmit and control electrical energy
Electricity, which is indispensable to our daily lives, is supplied by huge state-of-the-art power systems. Therefore, power plants and substations are equipped with high-voltage, large-capacity power generators, transformers, switches, power cables, transmission lines and condensers. In our laboratory, we are aiming to elucidate the mechanism of electric discharges needed to design, manufacture and maintain these electrical devices while conducting research on technologies in order to analyze electrical materials. Additionally, we are studying large-capacity storage batteries that use new carbon materials.

For SocietyStudents will acquire knowledge about insulation technology and materials necessary for research and development and manufacture of high-voltage, high-power machinery and equipment used at electric power companies, petrochemical and steel plants and railways. We are also engaged in electric field calculation and simulations of lightning discharge.
