Human Support Intelligent Robotics Laboratory
Creating technologies for intelligent robotics that assist people
As we approach an aging society with low birthrates in Japan, we face the serious problem of labor shortage in the sectors of manufacturing and supporting the livelihoods of the elderly. To address this problem, our laboratory is trying to develop intelligent robotics that will assist people based on technologies pertaining to artificial intelligence (AI), processing of biological and other signals, and measurement and control.
This lab is for this SDG activity:
STUDY FIELDS
- Intelligent machines
- Robotics
- Cognitive science
- Optics
- Engineering and design
FOR SOCIETY
Intelligent robotics is particularly needed in an aging society with low birthrates.
RESEARCH THEMES
- Development of robots with eye movements made possible by the use of wide-angle fovea sensors
- Development of intelligent mobile robots that assist humans
- Research on mannmachine interactions through eye contact
