Solar PV Generation System Sizing based on Building’s Energy Independency

【Presentation content】
This research purpose is to support the designing of the energy system in the office building to achieve net zero energy.
In order to achieve net zero energy condition in the office building, a local power generation, such as photovoltaic (PV), is necessary. An appropriate PV size is important to build an efficient system. The proposed designing method uses a graphical approach to show the energy independence of the building and help to visualize the optimum PV size.
By using the proposed method, the determination of PV size becomes easier. It shows the design limitation, and visualize the idea for design improvement. As the future work, the addition of batteries will be included in the design. Because the PV generates power only in the daytime, the addition of batteries will improve the performance by storing the excess energy and discharge it when it is needed.
