Global Soran Bushi Dancers participated in Tokyo 2020 live site in 2018
On February 22, Global Soran Bushi Dancers which is one of SIT club activities, participated in an event, Tokyo 2020 live site in 2018. The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Tokyo Metropolitan Government hold the event to give a boost to Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, during The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In spite of the bad weather, 11 students including 8 Japanese students and 3 international students performed "Soran Bushi" energetically on a performance stage in the Symbol Promenade Park.
Takahiro Wakano, 3rd year student of Department of Electronic Information Systems, a member of Global Soran Bushi Dancers, commented after performance, "It was a great opportunity to participate in the event related to Olympic and became a precious memory of college life. I think it was a great experience for all of us."
Pradita Octoviandiningrum Hadi, an international student, a member of Global Soran Bushi Dancers, commented with a smile, "I joined the Global Soran Bushi Dancers, because I think that I can learn at least one of japanese traditional dance as I live and study in Japan. I was very glad to join the event even it was cold and snowy. Because the event is rare, especially it is for Tokyo olympic."
*Soran Bushi is that one of traditional folk song and dance of Hokkaido, northern Japan, sung by the fishermen.
