29 Tecnologico de Monterrey students attended the orientation for their Summer Program at SIT on Monday, July 4. This occasion marked the first time for SIT to receive a cohort from a Mexican university.
Carlos Fernando Almada Lopez, Ambassador at the Mexican Embassy in Tokyo, gave a speech in Spanish to express his welcome and support for the Tec de Monterrey students.
SIT President Masato Murakami greeted and welcomed the Tec de Monterrey cohort with open arms. “Experience is the best teacher. Please make as many friends as possible whom you can cherish for a lifetime,” President Murakami said.
The Tec de Monterrey students split up into four groups and toured Toyosu Campus with Global Student Staff (GSS) members. Additionally, the Tec de Monterrey students were given advice on how to use commuter passes and how to use SIT facilities, including the athletic gym and cafeteria.
The welcome party at cafeteria was full of laughter and anticipation as the Tec de Monterrey students were joined by GSS members and international high school student interns who also celebrated their successful first day at SIT.
