Dear Students of Shibaura Institute of Technology,

Jun Yamada,
President

Today April 23, the government is expected to declare a State of Emergency for Tokyo. The infection is spreading nationwide especially among the younger generation and our university needs to take adequate infection control measures on this matter. As of now, due to your thorough infection control measures, we are fortunate that there has been no cluster outbreak of the new coronavirus at our university. Therefore, at this time, classes and research activities are being held as usual. While strengthening infection prevention measures, we will ensure learning opportunities through face-to-face classes and online classes are being held accordingly.

However, this policy may be changed if a State of Emergency is declared. Please stay alert for new announcements from the university.

Before the Golden Week holidays, we strongly request that you refrain from extracurricular activities, especially from dinner parties. A separate notice will be issued regarding extracurricular activities.

Students are requested to avoid going out unnecessarily and continue to take measures to prevent infection to protect yourself, your families, and others around you. In addition, please take care of your own health on a daily basis by wearing mask, washing hands, and alcohol disinfecting.

During the declaration of the State of Emergency (April 25 - May 11), students will be admitted to the university as follows:

Class days: April 26 (Mon.) - May 1 (Sat.), 8 (Sat.), 10 (Mon.), 11 (Tue.)
Classes and research activities will be open to students as usual.
Sundays, national holidays, and holidays when classes are cancelled: April 25 (Sun.), May 2 (Sun.) - May 7 (Fri.), May 9 (Sun.)

In principle, students are not allowed to enter the campus. In case of unavoidable circumstances due to research activities and etc., please consult with your supervisor.

When you are coming to the campus, please make sure that you have read the 「Checklist of Precautions for the 2021 Academic Year」.
